Magnus Magnusson is an experienced professional who has held various prestigious positions in international organizations such as UNESCO, Eco Capacity Exchange, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF), Nordic Development Fund (NDF), and more.
With a strong educational background in social sciences, business administration, economics, and environmental studies from renowned institutions like Uppsala University, Swedish Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm School of Economics, and University of California, Berkeley, Magnus has a solid foundation for his diverse career.
Starting his career at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Magnus then transitioned to roles at the Nordic Council of Ministers, Nordic Investment Bank, and eventually to heading the Stockholm Office at the United Nations Environment Programme/GRID Arendal.
His roles have included driving partnerships and outreach, government relations, business development, communications, and managing infrastructure portfolios in various countries across Africa.
Magnus currently serves as the Director (Officer in Charge) of the UNESCO Almaty Cluster Office, building on his previous role as Director for Partnerships and Outreach in the Human and Social Science Sector at UNESCO.
