Maelle Ba

Maelle Ba is the Senior Strategic Communications Manager at Speak Up Africa, an organization focused on sustainable development and public health initiatives in Africa.1 She joined Speak Up Africa in January 2014 and has over 10 years of experience in strategic communications and outreach.13

In her role, Maelle leads strategic communications initiatives, oversees the organization's creative expression, and champions partnerships for impact.1 She has worked on designing and implementing communication programs and campaigns in various African countries, focusing on gender equality and disease elimination.1

Maelle holds a Bachelor's degree in History and English, a Master's degree in History and Comparative Civilizations, and an MBA in International Institutions and NGOs Management.1 In September 2023, she was appointed co-Chair of the RBM Partnership to End Malaria Strategic Communications Partner Committee and became a member of the 30:12 Inc Advisory Council, which focuses on gender equality and grassroots sports development in Africa.1

Her work has been particularly significant in the "Zero Malaria Starts with Me" campaign, which she helped develop and implement since its inception in 2014.2 This campaign has grown from a national initiative in Senegal to a continent-wide movement endorsed by the African Union.2
