Mae Ferguson
President/CEO at Fort Worth Sister Cities International
Mae Ferguson is a prominent figure in international relations and citizen diplomacy, currently serving as the President/CEO of Fort Worth Sister Cities International and the Texas State Coordinator for Sister Cities International.12 She has held the position of President/CEO since January 2000 and has been the Texas State Coordinator since March 2012.2
As Texas State Coordinator, Ferguson serves as a resource for Texas cities and towns to create, maintain, or grow their sister cities programs. She is an expert in board and volunteer management, fund development, marketing, and developing organizational structures tailored to meet the needs of specific cities or towns.2
In her role as President/CEO of Fort Worth Sister Cities International, Ferguson oversees a staff of 5 full-time employees and 10-15 interns. She is responsible for building relationships with individuals and corporations to support the organization's $1.6 million budget, as well as managing all marketing, media, public relations, and government relations.2
Ferguson has also served on the Sister Cities International Board of Directors, including as Chairman of the Board from 2006 to 2008.1 Her contributions to the field have been recognized with numerous awards, including the Chairman's Award from Sister Cities International in 2008 and 2018, and the Ruth Hashimoto Award in 2023.1
After 25 years of dedicated service, Mae Ferguson has announced her retirement from Fort Worth Sister Cities International, effective at the end of 2024.134
