Lynnette Purda

Lynnette Purda is a distinguished Professor of Finance with a rich teaching background spanning various academic levels - undergraduate, Masters, and PhD.

She currently imparts her knowledge at the Smith School of Business, Queen's University, contributing to Executive MBA, Masters of Finance, Masters of International Business, and PhD programs.

Her research focus lies in empirical corporate finance and encompasses areas like corporate debt policy, credit ratings, and corporate governance, often taking an interdisciplinary approach by integrating knowledge from law, accounting, and international business.

Lynnette's published work can be found in esteemed publications like the Journal of International Business Studies, Contemporary Accounting Research, American Law and Economics Review, Journal of Financial Research, and Journal of Applied Finance.

Aside from research, she is deeply committed to teaching excellence, as evidenced by nominations for teaching awards at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Lynnette's academic journey includes studying Chartered Financial Analyst at CFA Institute, Ph.D. in Finance at the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management, and a B.Comm in Finance from the University of Manitoba.

Furthermore, she holds the prestigious title of Professor and RBC Fellow of Finance at the Smith School of Business, Queen's University, having previously served as an Associate Professor and Assistant Professor at the same institution.

Prior to her illustrious academic career, Lynnette gained industry experience as an Investment Banking Analyst at BMO Nesbitt Burns and also served as a Lecturer at the Rotman School of Management.
