Lynn Loo

Lynn Loo is a prominent figure in the field of energy and environmental research, with a distinguished career spanning academia and industry. She is the Theodora D. '78 & William H. Walton III '74 Professor in Engineering and Professor of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Princeton University.13 Loo served as the Director of the Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment at Princeton from July 2016 to July 2021.3
Currently, Loo is the Chief Executive Officer of the Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonisation (GCMD) in Singapore, a position she has held since August 2021.3 In this role, she leads efforts to accelerate decarbonization in the maritime industry through pilots, trials, and advocacy.2
Loo's research focuses on developing materials for lightweight and flexible solar cells and circuits, with applications in self-powered "smart" windows for improved energy efficiency.14 She has published over 150 papers and delivered more than 200 invited lectures globally.1
Throughout her career, Loo has received numerous accolades, including:

Most recently, in February 2025, Loo was elected to the National Academy of Engineering for her contributions to developing processing-structure-property relationships in electronic materials and leadership in decarbonizing shipping.5
Loo received her BSE in Chemical Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania in 1996 and her PhD from Princeton University in 2001.1
