Lux Narayan

Lux Narayan, also known as Lakshmanan Narayan, is a prominent entrepreneur and the Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Unmetric Inc., a social media intelligence company. He co-founded Unmetric in 2010 alongside Kumar Krishnasami and Joseph Varghese, both of whom are also graduates of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras. The company focuses on providing competitive intelligence services for social media, helping brands analyze their performance and strategies across various platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.14

Education and Early Career

Lux Narayan holds a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Madras (1989-1993) and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (1993-1995). Before founding Unmetric, he was involved with Vembu Technologies, an online data backup company, where he served as a co-founder.24 His diverse background includes roles in media planning, teaching at various educational institutions, and even early entrepreneurial ventures.

Under Narayan's leadership, Unmetric became recognized for its innovative approach to social media analytics. The platform provides insights into over 15,000 global brands, enabling marketers to benchmark their social media activities effectively. In 2019, Unmetric was acquired by Falcon.io, part of Cision Inc., which further expanded its capabilities within the marketing technology landscape.35

Current Endeavors

Following his tenure at Unmetric, Narayan co-founded StreamAlive in 2021, an audience engagement platform designed to enhance interaction during live sessions. This venture reflects his ongoing commitment to leveraging technology for better audience engagement in various formats—virtual, hybrid, and in-person.25

Personal Interests

Outside his professional life, Lux Narayan is known for his diverse interests ranging from stand-up comedy to trekking in the Himalayas. He is also a TED speaker and enjoys exploring various forms of storytelling.45
