Luke Hakes is a seasoned VC with 14 years of experience investing in various tech sectors. He played a significant role in developing Octopus Ventures from 2009 to 2022. Currently, Luke is taking a break to spend time with his children before embarking on his next endeavor.

Luke's educational background includes a PhD in Computational Genetics, an MSc in Bioinformatics, and a BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry with Biotechnology, all from The University of Manchester.

Throughout his career, Luke Hakes has been involved with multiple organizations, serving as an investor, non-executive director, or board representative in companies such as Unity Abode, Harmonic Security, Lopay, Seatfrog, Biofidelity, Imophoron Ltd, NanoSyrinx, Overture Life, Medisafe® Medication Management Platform, and many others. Moreover, he has held positions on the Global Leadership Board at The University of Manchester and as the Chair of University of Manchester Innovation Factory.
