Lucia Zamorano, MD, FAANOS, FICS is a distinguished neurosurgeon and Clinical Professor of Neurological Surgery at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine.2 She is also the President and CEO of Michigan Brain and Spine Surgery Center.2
Education and Early Career
Dr. Zamorano graduated with highest honors from Catholic University, School of Medicine in Santiago, Chile in 1980.2 She was awarded the "1980 Chilean Medical Association Prize" for being the best medical student graduating in Chile that year.2 After completing her residency, she became the first female trained neurosurgeon in Chile.2

She served as the Medical Director of Clinical and Research Fellowship in Stereotaxis, Neurosurgical-Oncology and Radiosurgery at Wayne State University, training over 50 neurosurgeons who have become world leaders in the field.2
