Lucia Lara is an accomplished individual with a diverse educational background. She pursued her International Baccalaureate at Lester B. Pearson United World College, followed by a Master's degree in International Migration and Social Cohesion at Universiteit van Amsterdam. Lucia also studied Ecologia Humana, Antropología y Migración at the College of the Atlantic and Intercambio, Ciencias Sociales at the University of Amsterdam, showcasing her interest in migration, social sciences, and intercultural studies.
Lucia has been involved in various organizations, demonstrating her expertise in research, social issues, intercultural communication, and international affairs. Currently, she serves as an Early Stage Researcher and PhD Candidate at Universidade do Porto. Lucia has previous experience as an Especialista at the Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores y Movilidad Humana in Ecuador, and as a Consultora/ Investigación Social in a freelance capacity. She has also worked as a Docente at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador, and in consulting roles with organizations such as UNDP, UN Migration Agency (IOM), World Food Programme, Consejo de Participación Ciudadana y Control Social, and Presidencia de la República - Ecuador, where she honed her analytical and research skills.
Lucia's professional journey includes roles such as Pasantía Academica- Investigación at CEAR, Comisión Española de Ayuda al Refugiado, Oficial de Elegibilidad- Dirección de Refugio at Ministerio de Relacionales Exteriores Ecuador, and as a Pasante in the area of Política migratoria internacional at Secretaria Nacional del Migrante, highlighting her extensive experience in migration policies, refugee assistance, and international relations. Through her engagements, Lucia has developed a strong foundation in social research, policy analysis, and implementation of international tools in various contexts.
