Lucas Welti 🌮, Engineering Manager, Internationalization at Zendesk

Lucas Welti is an experienced engineering manager with over 10 years of expertise in internationalization (i18n) and localization (L10n). He currently holds the position of Engineering Manager, Internationalization at Zendesk, where he has been working since November 2021.1

Prior to his current role, Welti held various positions at PayPal, Yahoo!, and other companies, including:

• Senior Globalization Engineer at PayPal from May 2015 to November 20211
• Principal International Software Engineer at Yahoo! from March 2012 to February 20151
• Sr. International Software Engineer at Yahoo! from July 2011 to March 20121

Welti has a strong background in media and sports, having worked on projects such as Yahoo! World Cup Sites, News Sites, Copa America 2007 Sites, and a new Sports Site, for which he received Yahoo! Odyssey Awards.1

He is proficient in Spanish (native or bilingual proficiency) and English (full professional proficiency), and has elementary proficiency in German.1 Welti holds a Bachelor's degree from Universidad de las Américas Puebla and has completed executive programs at MIT Sloan School of Management and a seminar at Harvard Law School.1

In addition to his professional experience, Welti is a half marathon runner, having completed the San Jose Rock 'n Roll Half Marathon in September 2015 with a time of 2 hours and 12 minutes.1
