Lucas Niewenhuis is an experienced Associate Editor at SupChina with a passion for China, its language, culture, and global impact. Lucas studied Political Science, World and Comparative Politics at the University of Michigan, and Mandarin Chinese at Beijing Language and Culture University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
His top interests include international relations, environmental policy, economic nationalism, and media analysis. Prior to joining SupChina, Lucas was a China-Africa Knowledge Project Research Assistant at the Social Science Research Council, a Freelance Copyeditor and Web Producer at SupChina, and a Private Mandarin Tutor at Independent Tutoring. Additionally, he has interned at Council on Foreign Relations and Physicians for Social Responsibility, where he worked on energy and environment and climate change issues, respectively.
