Louise Langheier

Louise Langheier is the Co-Founder and CEO at Peer Health Exchange, an organization dedicated to empowering young people with health education since its inception in 2003.

Her passion for this cause stemmed from her experiences growing up during the HIV epidemic in San Francisco, where she felt the impact of the disease firsthand and lost people she cared about. This drove her to be involved in developing the pilot program, Community Health Educators, in New Haven.

Under Louise's leadership, Peer Health Exchange has expanded its school-based program to reach over 150,000 young individuals, with the help of more than 15,000 college students. Their efforts have notably increased young people's health-seeking behaviors, from mental health support to contraception usage.

Apart from her role at Peer Health Exchange, Louise Langheier serves as the Board Chair for I AM ALS, a patient-led movement focused on supporting ALS patients and driving increased federal funding for the disease. Her involvement has been instrumental in growing the movement and securing over $80 million in additional funding for ALS, setting a standard for other rare diseases.

In addition to her current roles, Louise Langheier has been actively engaged on the boards of various organizations, including Dwight Hall at Yale, Generation Citizen, America Achieves, and the Cow Hollow School. She has also been recognized as a Pahara-Aspen Education Fellow and an Ashoka Fellow, reflecting her commitment to continuous learning and personal growth.

Louise Langheier holds a BA in History from Yale University and currently resides in San Francisco with her husband, three boys, and their dog. She values time with her family and loved ones, prioritizing adventures, and making meaningful contributions to causes she is passionate about.
