Liz Butler

Liz Butler is a Partner at Movement Catalyst with nearly 30 years of experience in organizing, campaigning, and movement building.13 She focuses on corporate and legislative campaigns, bringing extensive expertise in convening networks, building alliances, facilitating, running campaigns, organizing, direct action, training, and developing strategy.1

Prior to her role at Movement Catalyst, which began in February 20214, Liz held several significant positions:

1. Vice President of organizing and strategic alliances at Friends of the Earth
2. Network Organizing Project Director at Movement Strategy Center
3. Campaign Director (Executive Director/CEO equivalent) of 1Sky, a large-scale collaborative climate campaign
4. Co-founder and Organizing Director of ForestEthics for 10 years1

Liz has collaborated with various organizations and projects, including 99% Spring, Stop the Frack Attack, Global Witness, OUR Walmart, the Gettysburg Project, and Friends of the Earth.1 She managed a successful merger of 1Sky with 350 in 2011 after building and executing a successful campaign on climate and clean energy.1

At Movement Catalyst, Liz contributes to a team that provides support and capacity to social movements, aiming to catalyze transformational change through strategy development, creative protests, campaign management, trainings, and research.2
