Lisa Elfring

Vice Provost, Instruction and Assessment

Lisa Elfring is the Vice Provost for Assessment, Teaching, and Technology at the University of Arizona. She has a strong academic background, holding a PhD in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology, as well as a BA in Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz.12

In her role as Vice Provost, Elfring is involved in enhancing instructional quality and assessment practices across the university. She also serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology and is associated with the BIO5 Institute, focusing on biology education.34 Additionally, she has been recognized for her contributions to education, receiving the Henry and Phyllis Koffler Prize in 2024 for her work in higher education.5

Elfring's expertise lies in STEM education, where she employs both qualitative and quantitative research methods to assess educational impacts.6
