Israeli airline based in Haifa
Lior Yavor is a co-founder and Executive Vice President (EVP) of Air Haifa Ltd, a new low-cost airline based in Haifa, Israel. Established in 2023, Air Haifa aims to provide affordable flights from Haifa International Airport to various destinations in the Mediterranean and Red Sea regions, including Cyprus and Eilat. The airline is notable for being the first commercial airline to operate from Haifa, marking the first new airline in Israel since the 1990s.145
Before his role at Air Haifa, Lior Yavor held significant positions at El Al Israel Airlines, where he served as the Vice President of Operations and was also a pilot. His experience in the aviation industry, particularly with Israel's flag carrier, positions him as a key player in the management of the new airline.235
Air Haifa is backed by Nir Zuk, the founder of Palo Alto Networks, who is the primary investor in the venture. Alongside Yavor, the founding team includes other former executives from El Al, such as Gonen Usishkin and Michael Strassburger.123 The airline is currently in the process of obtaining the necessary operational licenses to begin its flight services, with plans to start operations in late 2024.46
