Lionel Aaron Battegay, born in 1997 in Basel, Switzerland, is a Swiss videoproducer, YouTuber, moderator, jurist, and entrepreneur. Known online as "Ask Switzerland," he gained prominence with his YouTube channel focused on street interviews about general knowledge, Swiss culture, and politics. His main channel, "Lionel | Ask Switzerland," has over 78,200 subscribers and 19 million views (as of February 2022). He also runs a second channel, "Bailioublog 白禮歐," featuring content in Chinese.1
Battegay began his YouTube career in 2015 and became the first Swiss YouTuber to interview a Federal Councillor publicly. He has collaborated with other creators and participated in various public roles, such as moderating events and serving as a juror for awards. He is also a co-owner of Bailiou GmbH, his production company.1
Politically active with the Jungfreisinnigen Basel-Stadt (Young Liberals), Battegay advocates for introducing politics as a school subject. Privately, he is married to Chin Cheng from Taiwan, whom he met during an exchange semester.1
