Liliane Chamas, PhD

Dr. Liliane Chamas is a multilingual Human Geneticist with a DPhil/PhD from Oxford and a Canadian Rhodes Scholar. She has a diverse background that includes investing in early-stage companies, conducting cutting-edge science, and contributing to global health policy.

Currently, she is a Healthtech Principal at Oxford Sciences Innovation, a leading university-partnered venture capital firm focusing on sourcing and investing in innovative health technologies originating from the University of Oxford.

Dr. Chamas has accumulated extensive experience in health policy, diplomacy, and governance, having worked in various roles across more than 10 countries with organizations like WHO, PAHO, and UNRWA, as well as with institutions such as the UK NHS, UK Foreign Commonwealth Office, and Health Education England.

She also holds positions on the Academic Council of the Schmidt Science Fellowships and serves as the Regional Secretary for the Rhodes Scholarships for Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, and Palestine (SJLP), playing a pivotal role in selecting and supporting Rhodes Scholars.

Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology from Concordia University and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Human Genetics and Clinical Research from the University of Oxford, St John's College.

Previously, Dr. Chamas has held roles such as Director of Strategy and Partnerships, Life Sciences at Oxford Sciences Innovation, Executive Director of Policy Engagement at the Blavatnik School of Government at the University of Oxford, and Global Health Policy Fellow at Imperial College London, among others.

She has also contributed significantly to research, working on noncommunicable diseases, mental health, human genetics, obesity, and dyslipidemia at esteemed institutions like the World Health Organization and the Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Metabolism at Churchill Hospital.
