Liam McGuffin

Professor of Bioinformatics at the University of Reading

Liam McGuffin is a renowned expert in bioinformatics focusing on computational tools for protein structure, function, and interactions.

He has contributed significantly to the field through the development of novel algorithms, prediction of mutation effects on proteins, and exploration of cardiovascular molecular mechanisms.

His work extends to quality evaluation of 3D protein models, high-performance computing for proteome analysis, and participation in critical protein structure prediction experiments.

With a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics from both Brunel University and the University of Warwick, Liam McGuffin also holds a BSc (Hons) in Genetics from Queen Mary, University of London.

Currently serving as a Professor of Bioinformatics at the University of Reading, he has previously held key positions at the same institution and University College London.

His research has been supported by prestigious entities such as the MRC, Diamond Light Source, RCUK, and international governments.
