    Liam Ives is a dedicated third-year PhD student at the Kar-Narayan Lab, Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy, University of Cambridge, focusing on developing conformable microfluidic force sensors for various biomedical applications such as precision orthopaedic surgery.

    With a keen interest in materials science, microfluidics, orthopaedic surgery, force/pressure sensors, biomedical devices, and sports medicine, Liam has a strong background in designing custom test rigs for material and device characterisation.

    Having completed the Impulse Programme for Tech Innovators in Entrepreneurship at the Maxwell Centre, University of Cambridge, Liam also holds a 1st class Master's Degree in Physical Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge, alongside his high school education at Sir Joseph Williamson's Mathematical School in Rochester.

    His professional journey includes roles such as PhD Intern at TTP plc, Non-Destructive Testing Intern at TWI, Trainee Researcher at EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne), and service as an Oxbridge Organiser at Sir Joseph Williamson's Mathematical School as well as a Volunteer at Mind.
