Health Influencing at Age UK
Lesley Carter is the Clinical Lead for Health Influencing and Programme Lead for the Malnutrition Task Force at Age UK.1 She is a Registered Nurse with a passion for change management and practice development.1 In her role, Lesley leads efforts to raise awareness of malnutrition in older people and provides strategic support and advice.2
Lesley has extensive experience in healthcare leadership, having previously served as:
- Director of Nursing for Community and Acute Mental Health and older people services
- Lead for service transformation and redesign at various organizations, including The London Development Centre, The Kings Fund, and Care Services Improvement Partnership
- London Lead for the development and implementation of the National Dementia Strategy at the Department of Health1
As part of her work with the Malnutrition Task Force, Lesley advocates for better recognition and prevention of malnutrition in older adults. She emphasizes that weight loss is not a normal part of aging and should be seen as a potential warning sign.3 Lesley works to educate healthcare professionals, older people, and their families about the importance of good nutrition and hydration in later life.4
