Les Hodges

Les Hodges is an Intellectual Property Attorney at Quinn IP Law, where he has been practicing since March 2019. He possesses over two decades of experience in corporate engineering, management, and in-house legal roles, specializing in patent drafting, prosecution, and legal opinions across various technologies. His expertise particularly focuses on three key areas: facilitating brainstorming sessions with inventors, managing complex technology-related transactions (including international joint ventures and mergers), and portfolio mining and monetization.12

Hodges has held significant positions at major corporations such as Ford Motor Company, General Motors, GE Transportation, and GE Healthcare, which gives him a unique insight into the priorities of in-house counsel. His technical background includes work on mechanical, electromechanical, software, and controls-related technologies, covering fields like engines, hybrid powertrains, semiconductor fabrication, and medical devices.12

He earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech and graduated cum laude with a Juris Doctor from Marquette University Law School, where he founded the Intellectual Property Law Society. He is admitted to the State Bar of Michigan and is a registered patent attorney with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. In addition to his legal career, Hodges enjoys teaching day trading and playing music in local bands.12
