MIEL Y NOIR is a street-active lifestyle brand that was initiated in May of 2012, and was created by Leon McKenzie. The name is derived from the skin complexions of Leon, and his former partner, Ani. She had a honey-colored skin complexion and his is a shade darker, considered black. With Leon being born in Canada learning the french language, and Ani being of hispanic descent, the name was formed from their second languages: french and spanish. ‘MIEL’ means ‘honey’ in both Spanish and French, ‘Y’ means ‘and’ in Spanish, and ‘NOIR’ means ‘black’ in French.For more on the brand, visit: <a href="http://mielynoir.com">http://mielynoir.com</a>

Creatively, I craft conscious and relevant hiphop music by remaining lyrically driven and a student of the craft. Since first recordings with DJ Love, I have worked to maintain a standard of hiphop culture throughout every song while remaining focused on providing a solid picture for the listener. My catalogue is a testament to staying true and consistent with one's style, and with the mixtape '(B)EAST' it proved this statement. The project went on to win 'Best Mixtape' at The Dallas Observer Music Awards in 2012.I work to contrast the music landscape, and create my own path by building my brand through sound and clothing. I've opened for many national hiphop artists, performed two years consecutively at SXSW, and have continued to expand my sound by teaming with eastern-European producer, Ayan.--hiphop music artist, emcee, lyricist, songwriter, entertainer

I became a professional dancer in 2005 after doing my first show on tour for Farouk Systems. Prior to that, however, I had performed at numerous venues and stages across Dallas, TX. I have taught at some of the most respected dance studios in Dallas, with lessons on bboying/breakdancing, house, and more.I have toured the nation as a solo act for 5 years with Chris and Candy Productions in The Tuaca Body Art Ball. Outside of shows nationwide, I have been in several commercials, including those for Papa John's and Enlyten, photoshoots (including one that won a Lucie award with Stewart Cohen Photography), and a number of music videos. I've performed and exhibited my skills at conventions, parties, corporate events, and promotions. I have entered, competed, and judged in national and local bboy competions and am a respected figure in the dance community.I am currently on my sixth season as the drum major for The Dallas Cowboys, and I still continue to dance to preserve my own skills.
