    Zero Deforestation Strategy Scientist at The Nature Conservancy

    Leandro Baumgarten is a dedicated conservationist and expert in the relationship between nature and development, with a primary focus on agriculture, landscape ecology, and strategy development.

    He has over 15 years of experience working in NGOs, Environmental State Agencies, and the Brazilian Environmental Ministry, where he led teams to provide technical and scientific support for conservation initiatives.

    Leandro joined The Nature Conservancy (TNC) in 2007, where he now serves as the Science Lead for the Zero Deforestation in Supply Chains Strategy, aiming to eliminate deforestation from beef and soy supply chains by engaging private sector companies.

    Currently, Leandro also leads the Transparency Strategy within the Collaboration for Forests and Agriculture, a joint initiative by the Moore Foundation, TNC, WWF, and NWF, focusing on removing deforestation from agricultural supply chains.
