Lauren Capelin

Lauren Capelin is a seasoned professional in the fields of community strategy and disruptive innovation with a strong background in sectors such as web3, fintech, the sharing economy, startups, and early-stage investing.

Before her current role as Ecosystem Support Manager at AWS Startups, she served as the Principal at Startmate, a well-known startup accelerator in Australia and New Zealand, overseeing Founder Scouting, Investments, and Media.

Previously, Lauren held the position of Partner of Platform at Reinventure Fund, an Australian venture capital firm specializing in disruptive financial services startups, contributing significantly to the growth of their portfolio platform services and the national fintech ecosystem.

She has actively advocated for gender representation within the fintech, venture capital, and startup sectors, launching several initiatives to address these issues over the years.

Lauren was involved in the growth of collaborative consumption globally, working with Rachel Botsman on her book 'What's Mine Is Yours: The Rise of Collaborative Consumption' and co-founding Collaborative Lab.

She also served as a founding member and Curator of the Sydney Global Shapers, a community of the World Economic Forum, and is a certified Organisational Coach and registered yoga teacher.

Lauren's educational background includes a Graduate Certificate of Business in Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies, as well as a Bachelor of Creative Industries in Creative Writing, Journalism, and Theatre Studies from QUT (Queensland University of Technology).
