Laura Pereira

Laura Pereira is a senior researcher currently working on the Programme on Climate Smart Livestock in East Africa (PCSL) at the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development in Utrecht University. She has completed MSc in Nature, Society and Environmental Policy and a PhD in Geography at the University of Oxford. Her post-doc work has been in sustainability science at Harvard's Kennedy School and under the Bioeconomy chair at the University of Cape Town before moving to Stellenbosch University to research development in the Anthropocene. She has worked with traditional knowledge, innovation, and futures techniques to bring transformative change. She is a member of the IPBES Task Force on scenarios and models and is interested in the food system to unpack broader challenges and solutions to the complexity of governance for sustainability transformations.
