Sales and Marketing Assistant at Ritchie Bros.

Working as part of the wider UK sales team and the international marketing team, I am the go to person in the UK team for all customer, industry and administration enquiries. 

Everyday of my role at Ritchie Bros. is different and this is something I thrive on. From working on auction advertising and social media content, to dealing with customer enquiries and even includes getting out in the yard with the machinery. 

As part of this role I am the person responsible for all UK auction advertising. For this I work closely with industry press to book advertising and editorial space, our digital team to ensure we are targeting in the right places and our communications team to produce social media content and press releases; all whilst keeping to budget and providing material to support the sales team. 

Throughout the year, as a UK sales team, we attend a number of industry trade shows, for these it is my responsibility to work closely with stand builders, designers and local team to put together a successful event for us and our customers.

A recent project I have taken on is to be responsible for the lead generation process across the whole of the Europe, Middle East, South America & Asian regions of the globe by putting together a new reporting and standard process for everyone to follow, with role out and follow up training. 

The sales support side of my role involves me creating auction contracts, assisting with any new deals and ensuring all paper work is in place. In addition to providing our sales team with relevant marketing materials to support their pitch to get customers to consign their machines to our auctions.

The auction day is a fast paced and exciting environment, and this is where I perform at my best. Working closely to ensure all customer enquiries are answered and customers are registered to take part in the auctions whether bidding onsite or online.

As a small company this role enabled me to get involved in a number of different aspects of the business, the main part of my role focused on marketing for the company and developing the company websites and social media, but I also got heavily involved in the day to day running of the office from answering telephone and email enquiries to processing new sales orders. 

During my time at DMMP I took a lead role in the establishing a new website for the company, this involved working closely with our web developer, conducting market research and building relationships with potential new suppliers. 

In addition to this large project, the day to day tasks involved in this role involved regularly posting on and growing the companies social media presence, producing advert artwork, editorial pieces, promotional literature and much more.

Being responsible for a number of features in each months magazine, it was my role to ensure that there was sufficient editorial copy and that all advertising space was sold each month.

This role involved much communication with a number of customers from speaking with industry experts to produce the editorial pieces for each feature. As well as working closely with our creative team and customers to ensure any advertising artwork produced met the customers brand guidelines. 

In addition to being responsible for the monthly features, representing the company and a number of industry shows was something I really enjoyed. Networking and meeting customers to build upon my industry knowledge.

Production Assistant/Advertising Sales

As an Independent school, The Dixie Grammar School, relies heavily on marketing and word of mouth to attract new students to the school. As a key member of the marketing team it was my responsibility to ensure that the schools social media platforms were kept up to date with regular news from the school to help encourage new students by showing all the activities the students take part in both in the classroom and as extra curricular. 

In addition to this, I put together press releases which were shared with local press and the internal school newsletter and magazine.

A large project that I was heavily involved in this role was the redevelopment of the school website, this involved ensuring that all information we had was up to date and relevant, and working closely with all members of staff to ensure all deadlines were met. 

I spent a lot of the role focusing on market research and looking at the other independent schools in the area and helping to develop focus areas for our new marketing campaigns, with a key focus on the schools catchment area.
