Management Associate

As a summer intern within the Solutions function of Labatt Canada, I worked alongside the Accounts-To-Report team - responsible for the consolidation and reporting of financial statements, and month-end closing duties. My role was heavily based on analyzing large volumes of financial data from SAP, interpreting, and modelling my findings to investigate the root cause of variances in the intercompany General Ledger accounts. 

At the end of my term, I presented my findings and recommendations to a panel of senior-level management, and created a summary file consisting of the next steps, in order for solution implementation.

Solutions Development Intern

Throughout my summer with Northbridge, I was exposed to the commercial insurance industry through an underwriting and technical-assistant lens. Working alongside the small business team, I was responsible for the processing of new business submissions, policy amendments, renewals, cancellations, and troubleshooting brokers' requests. Over the course of my 3-month internship, I was able to assist in reducing the outstanding assignments basket from 100+ to 50, speeding up the response times to clients and increasing process efficiency.

As a summer student with Tangerine - a subsidiary of Scotiabank, I was introduced to, and quickly acquired a knowledge base for the world of financial products and banking.

By engaging with clients both in-person and over the phone, I was responsible for everything from starting them as a client from scratch, to listening to their concerns and helping fix any problems with their existing Tangerine accounts. Teamwork was a common theme throughout my term at Tangerine, working together with my colleagues and fellow summer students, resulting in consistently meeting management-set monthly performance objectives.

As an Operations Intern with Unitrend, my responsibilities varied across a wide range of departments including accounting, production, and sales. I oversaw and interacted with employees in each checkpoint of the firm's value, beginning from the customer's order, to the manufacturing and shipping of the products. I quickly became familiar with technological platforms including Sage 300 ERP accounting software, as well as strengthening my knowledge and skills of Microsoft excel, both which were vital to my role for invoice entry, order logging, and the development of item codes.

Further, I acted as the point of communication between sales and production, receiving customer order requests then ensuring they are processed correctly, prioritizing rush-requests to maximize efficiency and optimize cycle time.
