Larry Goldberg

Larry Goldberg is an accessibility expert with a long and distinguished career in making media and technology accessible to people with disabilities. He served as Head of Accessibility at Yahoo from June 2014 to May 2022.1 During his tenure, he was responsible for overseeing all of the company's product accessibility activities, as well as internal and external marketing and information dissemination work.2

Prior to joining Yahoo, Goldberg had an extensive career in accessibility:

1. He founded and directed the WGBH National Center for Accessible Media (NCAM) in 1990, an R&D center for new media policy, standards, and innovation.2

2. Before NCAM, he directed WGBH's Media Access Group, which was the world's first caption and audio description production unit.2

3. He played a significant role in developing closed captioning technology and bringing it to mainstream media.3

After leaving Yahoo in May 2022, Goldberg has been working as a self-employed accessible media and technology consultant.1 Throughout his career, he has been a driving force in making digital content more accessible, particularly in the realm of video captioning and audio description.
