Larry Baer is a prominent American businessman best known as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the San Francisco Giants, a Major League Baseball team. Early Life and Education
Larry Baer was born into a Jewish family in San Francisco and attended Lowell High School. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1980 with a degree in political science. While at Berkeley, he was involved in the student-run radio station KALX, where he negotiated to make it the official radio station for the Oakland Athletics' first games that season. After earning his degree, he attended Harvard Business School, obtaining his MBA in 1985.
Career with the San Francisco Giants
Baer began his career with the Giants as a marketing director shortly after graduating from Berkeley. He left to work for Westinghouse Broadcasting and CBS before returning to the Giants in 1992. He played a crucial role in forming a new ownership group that prevented the team from relocating to Tampa Bay. Over the years, he has held various leadership positions within the organization:
