Laird Nelson is a highly experienced lawyer with expertise in transactional and litigation matters across various industries such as publishing and media, manufacturing, and technology. Currently, he serves as Senior Corporate Counsel at Amazon Lab126 where he advises the digital and devices businesses on various legal matters related to product, hardware, and software development. Before joining Amazon, Laird worked at Jones Day where he played an active role in several high-profile cases representing municipalities, companies, lenders, unsecured creditors, and other significant clients in distressed situations. He is also well-versed in pro bono work and has experience litigating child support, divorce, and custody matters on behalf of low-income, domestic violence victims. Laird holds a J.D. degree from Columbia Law School, where he was a James Kent Scholar and a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. Additionally, he graduated from The Johns Hopkins University with a B.A. degree in International Studies, and also completed a diploma in International Studies from The Johns Hopkins University - Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).
