Kurt Overberg

Kurt Overberg is a seasoned technologist and innovator with over two decades of experience in translating entrepreneurial and technological concepts into tangible technology platforms that bridge the gap between ideas and execution.

Throughout his career, Kurt has been instrumental in pioneering the connection between technology and commerce, contributing to the foundational infrastructure of numerous everyday technologies.

In the early 90s, Kurt played a key role in developing one of the first SGML browsers for Electronic Book Technologies, which was later acquired by Inso Corp.

He also made significant contributions to the development of the first online shopping cart and credit card payment systems for OpenMarket, a pioneer in e-commerce that went public in 1996.

In 2002, Kurt co-founded BzzAgent, a prominent social media marketing company, where he served as CTO and facilitated its acquisition by UK firm Dunnhumby in 2011.

Kurt subsequently founded Xrtic Consulting, offering his expertise as a coder, technologist, innovator, and team leader to assist individuals and companies in evaluating potential mergers and acquisitions through thorough systems, infrastructure, and IP analysis.

He remains actively involved in coding while providing strategic consultancy services through Xrtic Consulting.

Joining Pluralsight after one of his contracts, Smarterer, was acquired in 2015, Kurt played a pivotal role in integrating Smarterer's technology into Pluralsight's educational platform.

Over time, he transitioned into leadership roles, managing various teams, and becoming a key figure in the Boston remote office at Pluralsight.

In addition to his professional endeavors, Kurt demonstrates a strong commitment to giving back to the community, serving as the acting president of a music education non-profit organization and mentoring aspiring entrepreneurs at the Harvard Innovation Lab.
