Gielen holds a Masters's degree in Biochemistry and specializes in market development, coaching, change management, business development, and real estate development for innovative companies. He has worked with academic groups and medical startups to bring their innovative ideas to the market and help patients.

Gielen has held several notable positions throughout his career, including the Chief Business Officer at Medace BV and Business Development Manager Biomedical Materials at Brightlands Innovation Factory and Chemelot InSciTe. He has also worked at Avantor and Life Technologies, where he worked his way up from Inside Sales Support to Sr. Technical Sales Representative before becoming Global Market Development Leader and European Business Manager.
