Kumar Rajaram
Professor of Operations and Technology Management, William E. Leonhard Chair in Management, UCLA Anderson School
Kumar Rajaram is a distinguished professor at the UCLA Anderson School of Management, where he holds the position of Professor of Operations and Technology Management and the William E. Leonhard Chair in Management.14 His research focuses on improving operations in various sectors, including healthcare, nonprofits, and process manufacturing industries such as food processing, pharmaceuticals, and petrochemicals.15
Education and Career
Rajaram received his Ph.D. in Operations Management from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania in 1998.14 He also holds a B.E. (Honors) and M.Sc. (Honors) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, India, and an M.S. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.14
He joined UCLA Anderson School of Management in 1997 as an Acting Assistant Professor and has been a full Professor since 2008.3 In 2019, he was appointed to the William E. Leonhard Chair in Management.3
Research and Contributions
Rajaram has made significant contributions to the field of operations management:
- He developed a new control paradigm called "Robust Process Control," which has led to substantial productivity increases in industrial processes worldwide.1
