Kristie Arias is a textile artist, art director, and university professor at the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC) in Peru. Born in Lima in 1977, she has a diverse educational background, holding a master's degree in cultural management from Universidad de la Rioja in Spain, a bachelor's degree in Art and Design from the Catholic University of Peru, and further studies in textile design at North Carolina State University.
Her professional career includes significant roles in the Peruvian art and fashion sectors. Kristie has collaborated with artisans across Peru on various projects that emphasize hand spinning and product development. She has served as the director of Bodega MATE, the design store associated with the Mario Testino Museum in Lima, and was the commercial director for the sustainable fashion brand Escvdo. Recently, she was the director of the AMANO Pre-Columbian Textile Museum, showcasing her commitment to supporting Peruvian textile art and culture.
In her current role, Kristie continues to teach at UPC while managing her textile studio and engaging in cultural projects that promote Peruvian art and design.12
