The Great Game of Business is "the best, most efficient, most profitable way to operate a business" by giving everybody in the company a voice in saying how the company is run and a stake in the financial outcome, good or bad. To some, the idea might seem radical, but this original form of open-book management engages the hearts and minds of all employees, from the front-lines all the way up to the front offices. When employees understand the business, see how they impact the numbers, and have a stake in the outcome, they begin to think and act like owners.

Combining my love for working with children and graphic design, I created my Pint-Sized Picassos. I turn kids' creations - from the most modest finger paintings to the most elaborate sketches and watercolors - into personalized gallery prints you will be proud to hang in your living room or give as a gift. Every child is an artist, and each project is a masterpiece!

I regularly created full-color brochures, print ads, electronic newsletters, email ad campaigns, ad copy, social media marketing plans, customer surveys, logo packages and collateral marketing material, as well as consulted on sales/sales processes for a variety of clients, including a large regional bank, a start-up consumer retail business, a large paper recycling firm, a photocopier sales and service company, a local marketing cooperative, a law firm, a business management seminar/consulting firm, and an electronic marketing company (providing similar services to their clients).

Communications by Design

Freelance Graphic Designer/Marketing Consultant

•Researched, wrote, and designed customer/member newsletter (sent to 14,000 households), as well as weekly internal newsletter.

•Completely planned, coordinated and supervised the cooperative’s annual meeting, producing and maintaining record attendance of over 1,000 people.  

•Developed and executed marketing campaigns (including surveys, press releases, print and radio ads, display signage, etc.) for various aspects of the business, from image enhancement to the promotion of a fiber optics subsidiary.  Designed and produced collaborative business materials, including annual reports, informational brochures, web pages, event logos, etc.

•Served as a community liaison for the cooperative, regularly speaking at youth and community events, as well as handling all television, radio and print media relations.

•Produced and wrote a 15-minute video documenting and highlighting the cooperative’s 57-year history and its mission as a member- and community-focused entity.

•Analyzed client situations in order to develop effective marketing campaigns.  Designed and implemented media buys, including negotiating rates and holding stations accountable for appropriate audience delivery. 

•Developed advertising concepts and wrote radio, television and print advertising copy.  Wrote press releases and arranged for media coverage of clients’ promotional events.

•Conducted internal business analysis to determine an equation for projecting revenue and increasing profitability.  Spearheaded efforts to form the company’s first budget.  Developed advanced spreadsheets to forecast sales and profitability, keeping the entire staff abreast of current financial situation.

Media Buyer

•Played a key role in all aspects of marketing strategy and implementation, including: product development, sales, pricing, customer relations, budgetary planning, growth strategies, communications, and purchasing.

•Designed, wrote and coordinated the development of brochures, signs, newsletters, press releases and direct mail letters.  Initiated a major overhaul in the Great Game of Business web page, then designed, wrote, and coordinated its development and upkeep.

•Wrote issue reports and developed presentations for companies, including analysis and summary of written and numerical employee surveys, management interviews, and financial statements.
