Krista Nightengale
Krista Nightengale is a journalist turned urban design activist and executive director at Better Block Foundation. Her career began in Dallas, where she served as Managing Editor at the city magazine, Executive Director of a literacy nonprofit, and Chief of Staff at the Coalition for a New Dallas. Later, she launched Dallas Innovates, a news site promoting Dallas-Fort Worth as an innovation hub. Krista's interest in the built environment drove her to join the Better Block Foundation and showcase the potential of walkable/bikeable districts.
Krista is highly involved in community organizations. Some of her positions include the president-elect of the Dallas Center for Architecture, a board member of the City Lab High School Foundation, and a member of the Communities Foundation of Texas Emerging Leaders in Philanthropy. She writes for several outlets, including D Magazine, Dallas Morning News, and Dallas Innovates. She has been a panelist and speaker at various events, discussing urban design, politics, housing issues, and activism. Most recently, she gave the keynote at Charlotte's Neighborhood Exchange Leadership Awards and AIA Baltimore's Spring Lecture Series.
