Founder and Principal
Kris Viesselman is a seasoned professional with over thirty years of experience in creative, journalism, content creation, and product leadership roles.
In 2014, she established Electric Ivy, LLC, a company that collaborates with writers, editors, filmmakers, illustrators, coders, animators, and photographers to develop content, design products, platforms, and experiences for mission-driven organizations.
Her specialties include editorial and content strategy, creative leadership, journalism, visual storytelling, publication and product design, digital experiences, documentary and video production, branding, messaging, workflow and organization design, as well as fundraising, sponsorships, and partnerships.
She has worked with a wide range of renowned clients and partners such as The Washington Post, National Geographic, Financial Times Deutschland, and The World Bank, among others.
Kris has held significant positions in notable organizations, including serving as the Senior Vice President, Editor-in-Chief, and Chief Creative Officer for The Economist Group's CQ and Roll Call in Washington, D.C., and managerial roles at The San Diego Union-Tribune and other California news companies.
With more than five years of experience at National Geographic, Kris has excelled in hybrid leadership roles involving editorial, creative, and business development responsibilities.
She is recognized for her expertise and has provided consultations and presentations across the United States, Europe, South America, and Asia, in addition to her involvement as the president of the Society for News Design and as a university instructor.
