    Filmmaker and Media Arts Educator

    Anne Koizumi is an accomplished independent filmmaker and media arts educator with a strong background in film production.

    She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Film from York University and completed her undergraduate studies in Film Production at the University of British Columbia.

    Anne's journey in the film industry saw her participation in Hothouse 3 by the National Film Board of Canada, where she produced her first professional film, A Prairie Story.

    Her works have been showcased at prestigious film festivals like Hot Docs, Ottawa International Animation Festival, Annecy, SFFILM, Slamdance, and the London International Animation Festival.

    Notably, her recent film, In the Shadow of the Pines, has received multiple awards, including best short animation at SFFILM and best narrative short and best Canadian short at OIAF 2020.

    In addition to her filmmaking endeavors, Anne has extensive experience in teaching animation workshops at various institutions and community centers.

    She has conducted workshops at the National Film Board of Canada, TIFF Bell Lightbox, and hospitals and community centers in Toronto, as well as at the Quickdraw Animation Society in Calgary, Alberta.
