He holds a DSc (Med) in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Cape Town, a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Orthopaedic Engineering from the University of Oxford, a PhD in Musculoskeletal Biomechanics from the University of Iowa, and a BSc (Hons) in Applied Mathematics and Physics from Rhodes University.
