Kimberly Powell

Kimberly Powell has an extensive background in the field of classical music as a professional collaborative pianist and radio host.

Starting at KUCO in 2007, Kimberly held various roles such as Director of Production, Assistant Director of Programming, and eventually Director of Programming.

She is known for her concise and informative commentary, resonant voice, polished delivery, and has revamped KUCO's community revue into a fully produced weekly program with commentary and interviews.

Kimberly has been featured in notable publications such as the Sunday Oklahoman and The Journal Record for her contributions to the arts and media in Oklahoma.

Her creative production for station underwriting and thoughtful interviews with leading musical artists have garnered recognition.

She expanded programming with initiatives like Performance Oklahoma becoming a weekly program on KWTU in Tulsa and introducing the Oklahoma Youth in Classical Music program.

Kimberly's Community Series highlighted classical music in community settings and she organized historic statewide broadcasts from the Tulsa Opera.

Her accomplishments have been acknowledged with a Governor's Arts Award for excellence in Media in the Arts as well as commendations from the Oklahoma State Senate and House of Representatives.

Kimberly's productions of OKC Philharmonic concerts are set for historic statewide broadcasts and she has collaborated with renowned artists like Joshua Bell.

Prior to her radio career, Kimberly Powell spent 25 years as a professional collaborative pianist, performing in concerts, master classes, and on platforms like APM's Performance Today.

She also served as a coach at the Seattle Conservatory and Pacific Lutheran University, and appeared as a guest artist at various prestigious events and conferences focused on classical music.
