    Kimberly Hill

    Assistant Professor of African American History, University of Texas at Dallas

    Kimberly Hill is a dedicated historian who specializes in researching the intersections between African American Protestant missions work and racial justice activism during the Jim Crow era.

    Her current work focuses on Southern Presbyterian missionaries, YWCA and YMCA organizers, and historically black colleges and universities affiliated with these leaders.

    Kimberly's upcoming book, 'A Higher Mission: The Careers of Alonzo and Althea Brown Edmiston in Central Africa,' will be published by the University Press of Kentucky in October 2020.

    In addition to her research, she is a full-time history instructor who aims to make American history engaging and fosters effective communication skills among her students.

    Her educational background includes a Ph.D. in United States History and a Doctor of Philosophy in History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

    She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Plan II Interdisciplinary Honors from The University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Arts in History and Race Relations from the University of Cape Town.

    Kimberly has diverse experience in teaching subjects such as United States history, African American history, American Christian history, African history, comparative race relations, and oral history.

    She has contributed her expertise as a Question Leader for the Advanced Placement U.S. History Exam Reading at Educational Testing Service (ETS) and previously served as an Assistant Professor of African American History at the University of Texas at Dallas.
