Kevin Diakiw
Recovery Coach Trainer and Mindfulness Teacher at Still Here
Kevin Diakiw is a Recovery Coach Trainer at Still Here with a personal history of addiction and recovery.1 He has been continuously sober since July 22, 1991, after struggling with alcohol addiction for 14 years.1 Diakiw is a Certified Recovery Coach Professional (CCAR), a Canadian Certified Recovery Coach (CACRC), and a Qualified MBSR Mindfulness Teacher from UMass.12 He is also certified in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) for trauma response from the Justice Institute of B.C.1
Diakiw's journey to becoming a recovery coach was influenced by his personal experiences with addiction in his family. He lost his father to suicide due to alcoholism and his brother to a drug-related heart attack.1 These experiences drive his passion for helping others find their path to recovery.
As a recovery coach trainer, Diakiw focuses on empowering individuals to design their own recovery plans, recognizing that recovery is not a one-size-fits-all approach.1 He emphasizes the importance of asking individuals what they need and matching them with appropriate forms of support.1 Diakiw is also involved in training other recovery coaches and exploring ways to address gaps in the current addiction recovery system.12
