Kevin Denney

Kevin Denney is an Adjunct Instructor at Tarleton State University, where he teaches courses related to criminal justice. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Texas A&M University, obtained in 1991, and has earned two master's degrees from Tarleton State University: one in Criminal Justice in 2016 and another in Public Administration in 2019. Currently, he is pursuing a PhD, focusing on evolving issues within law enforcement.12
Denney has an extensive background in law enforcement, having served for 28 years, including five years as a police chief. He is currently the Chief of the Jarrell Police Department. His professional experience informs his academic pursuits, as he aims to contribute positively to the field of policing and leave a legacy for future generations.12
In addition to his teaching role, Denney's research interests include the legitimacy of police practices and their impact on communities. His dissertation, completed in 2022, was titled "The Legitimacy of Police and Courts Around the World," supervised by Dr. Mark Stafford.13
