Kevin Clauson, Professor at Lipscomb University College of Pharmacy

Kevin Clauson was a professor of pharmacy practice at the Lipscomb University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Nashville, Tennessee.12345 He passed away on September 15, 2022 at the age of 51 after a brief battle with cancer.234

Clauson was widely published and a well-respected speaker, having presented across the country, including at Stanford University's Medicine X program and the White House for the President's Precision Medicine Initiative.1 He served as a technology advisor for many organizations, including the Food and Drug Administration, the World Health Organization, and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society.1

Some of Clauson's key contributions and achievements:

• Instrumental in developing a first-of-its-kind system that provides underinsured patients with prescribed oral chemotherapy medications1
• Helped pioneer blockchain technology to track and trace donated medicines, providing transparency1
• Served as a Pharmacy Professor at Nova Southeastern University before relocating to Lipscomb University in 201446
• Adjunct Associate Professor at the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Nova Southeastern University5
• Lipscomb started the second health informatics program within a college of pharmacy in the nation in 2010 with a mission to improve health outcomes using technology1

The Kevin Clauson Drug Donation Act, named in his honor, was signed into law in Tennessee in July 2023.1 It will help prevent medication waste and increase access to necessary and life-saving drugs for more individuals, especially those in underserved populations.1
