Kevin Alicea-Torres, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor of Cell & Molecular Biology | Principal Investigator | Cancer Immunologist | Science Communicator

Kevin Alicea-Torres is a dedicated cancer immunology researcher and science communicator.

He completed his Ph.D. in cell and molecular biology at the University of Pennsylvania with a focus on immune suppression in the tumor microenvironment.

As the Associate Director of the PROUD program at the University of Puerto Rico, he plays a key role in the inclusive excellence initiative to establish a Center for Teaching and Learning.

Kevin's expertise led him to develop a novel immunotherapy approach to treat cancer during his research at The Wistar Institute.

He honed his communication skills as a science writer at El Nuevo Día Newspaper during his time as an AAAS Mass Media fellow.

Additionally, Kevin is passionate about outreach, recruitment, and mentorship of underrepresented students in STEM fields.

He is also the co-founder of 'Caminos en Ciencia', a platform that highlights the career journeys and struggles of Latin American scientists worldwide.
