Kenny Mann is an experienced documentary filmmaker and educator, currently serving as an instructor at the Digital Film Academy in Manhattan since September 2008. In this role, he teaches various aspects of documentary film production, including research, topic development, storytelling, treatment writing, pre-production, production, post-production, legal issues, ethics, and marketing.14
Mann's background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in zoology, botany, and chemistry from the University of Nairobi, as well as a Master's degree in Education from Bank Street College in New York. He has a rich history in filmmaking, having worked as a researcher and scriptwriter for a series of films on animal behavior in Germany, and he has produced several documentaries and educational materials throughout his career.23
In addition to his teaching, Mann is the founder of Rafiki Productions, where he has directed and produced various films, including shorts and documentaries focused on African themes.12 He is also a published author, known for a six-part series titled African Kingdoms of the Past among other works.2
