    Ken LaZebnik is an American writer and academic with extensive experience in television, film, and theatre. He is currently the Director of the M.F.A. in Writing and Producing for Television program at Long Island University, a position he has held since 2019.3 LaZebnik is also known as the Parsons Family University Professor in Television Production at LIU.4

    As a writer, LaZebnik has contributed to various television shows, including "Touched by an Angel," "Star Trek: Enterprise," and "When Calls the Heart".1 He co-wrote Robert Altman's last film, "A Prairie Home Companion," with Garrison Keillor.2 His screenplay "On the Spectrum" earned him a Steinberg Award from the American Theatre Critics Association.1

    In addition to his work in television and film, LaZebnik has written numerous plays, many of which have been produced across the United States. He has a particular interest in plays dealing with autism, having written three on the subject.1

    LaZebnik is also an author, having published "Hollywood Digs: An Archeology of Shadows" in 2014, a collection of essays about personal encounters with Hollywood history.1 Prior to his current role at LIU, he founded and directed the Master of Fine Arts in TV and Screenwriting program at Stephens College.1
