    Ken Howard

    Past-President of the International Association of Hydrogeologists

    Ken Howard is a distinguished hydrogeologist with vast experience in groundwater resource evaluation, management, and protection.

    He is certified by the American Institute of Hydrology, chartered by the British Geological Society, and registered as a Professional Geoscientist with the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario.

    Ken Howard served as the President of the International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH) from 2012 to 2016 and continued as the Past-President until 2020, showcasing his leadership in the field.

    He is a co-Director of the IAH Urban Groundwater Network (IAHUGN) and holds the position of Director of the Groundwater Research Group at the prestigious University of Toronto.

    With a strong academic background, Ken earned his M.Sc. in 1975 and Ph.D. in 1979 in Hydrogeology from The University of Birmingham, further enhancing his expertise in the field.

    He has been actively involved in applied projects globally since the mid-1970s, covering a wide array of topics such as numerical flow modeling, contaminant migration, environmental isotopes, and borehole geophysics.

    Ken Howard's research has notably delved into the areas of groundwater contamination from both point and non-point sources, as well as the sub-surface transport and modeling of reactive and non-reactive groundwater constituents.

    Currently a Professor at the University of Toronto, Ken's dedication to the advancement of hydrogeology is evident through his affiliations and contributions to various organizations within the industry.
