Kelsey McKinney

Kelsey McKinney is a highly educated features writer and co-founder of Defector Media LLC. She is originally from the United States and studied Plan II Honors and American Literature at The University of Texas at Austin, graduating with a 3.9 GPA. Kelsey has written for a variety of publications including Deadspin, Vox Media, Inc., and Fusion— Univision, where she held the position of staff culture writer/reporter. She has also worked as a Life & Arts section editor and associate managing editor at The Daily Texan, and as a researcher for Delayed Gratification and the Harry Ransom Humanities Library. In addition to her extensive professional experience, Kelsey is also an author, with her debut novel set for release in 2021. Her writing interests are diverse and include topics ranging from pop culture and music to social justice and everything in between.
