Kayur Patel
Kayur Patel is a highly accomplished Research Scientist currently working at Apple. Patel is a strong leader and is in charge of a team of designers and researchers who work collaboratively to make machine learning more useful and easier to use. He has a background in Computer Science and Human Computer Interaction, and his education includes a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Science from the University of Washington, an MS in Computer Science (focus on AI) from Stanford University, and a BS in Computer Science and Human Computer Interaction from Carnegie Mellon University.
As an expert in machine learning, Patel has noticed that while the machine learning community has made great progress, there are still not enough products that take advantage of the power of machine learning. He has worked to answer tough questions such as why there are not more products using machine learning, why machine learning requires a Ph.D. to use successfully, and why building software powered by machine learning is so hard. Patel is passionate about creating software that makes machine learning more accessible to everyone.
Prior to working at Apple, Patel has held many professional roles including Edumacator at Columbia University, Blacksmith at Google, Research Intern at Microsoft, Graduate Student at the University of Washington, Graduate Student at Stanford University, and Undergrad Researcher at Carnegie Mellon University. Patel's professional experiences have equipped him with a range of skills that have made him an asset in the field of machine learning.
